why is barcode black in colour?
Any links?
Any info i can get in SINGAPORE?

Best answer:

I don’t think there is an actual reason for bar codes being black. I think it’s just easier and cheaper to print them in black. I’ve seen them in all different colors. Black is probably just the easiest to see and decipher.

Is there a website that I can type a barcode into and it will tell me what the product is and how much it was?

Best answer:

No…you may be able to Google some UPC labels, but the actual product/price/etc. are programmed locally at each store. You may have one product that 5 different stores are selling, but are all different prices. Factor in special promotions or sales and you can see why they would all be different and the need to program the UPCs locally.

what was the first product to have a barcode on its label?

what was the first product to have a barcode on its label?

Best answer:

In June 1974, one of the first UPC scanner, made by NCR Corp. (which was then called National Cash Register Co), was installed at Marsh’s supermarket in Troy, Ohio. On June 26, 1974, the first product with a bar code was scanned at a check-out counter. It was a 10-pack of Wrigley’s Juicy Fruit chewing gum. The pack of gum wasn’t specially designated to be the first scanned product. It just happened to be the first item lifted from the cart by a shopper whose name is long since lost to history. Today, the pack of gum is on display at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American History.

what has the barcode impacted?

May 16th, 2011 at 12:56am Under Forum

what has the barcode impacted?
why is the barcode such a great innovation or invention?

Best answer:

It allows far fast computer scan. Imagine if you had to manually enter every item at checkout when at Wal-Mart. There is also increased error when this method has to be done. The barcode increases accuracy. Have you given blood? They put barcodes on the bag so they can easily enter and recall information from a computer without the problem of operator error.

The barcode has become an essential part of today’s business; business could not run efficiently without barcodes.

Barcode Tickets Won't Print?

Barcode Tickets Won’t Print?
I’m printing tickets for sahara sam’s indoor water park. on the pdf it shows the barcode and everything, but when i print, everything comes up BUT NOT the bar code. Does anyone know why or how i can make them print?

Best answer:

In a PDF file, everything should print. Make sure you have the latest version of Adobe Reader (or whatever program you’re using to view and print the PDF) and the latest printer driver for the OS that you’re using.

Otherwise, I would need to see it & play with it (PDF, printer, computer, etc.) to help any further.

Best of luck.

Driving thru Maryland today, we noticed many cars with a barcode on the left passenger window. What is it?

Driving thru Maryland today, we noticed many cars with a barcode on the left passenger window. What is it?
We saw this on a trip today. It was just a barcode on the window of the passenger. We thought it might be an EZ pass thing, but it was on cars from Maryland, Virginia, New York, etc. We could not figure it out but we saw so many cars with it. Does anyone know what it could be? Thanks

Best answer:

its if you live in a gated community or a place where you have to pay toll ( like an island) then you can pay in advance and get like a yearly pass then they scan it when you drive by.

Can I return a damaged dvd to FYE without a receipt?

Can I return a damaged dvd to FYE without a receipt?
I purchased a used copy of Poseidon at FYE and somehow lost the receipt. When I got home the DVD was extremely damaged and scratched, literally unplayable. The stickers and barcode that the store placed on it are still there, can I return it?

Best answer:

I doubt it, the receipt would prove you did not have time to damage the dvd, but now you can’t prove it.

Are USB Barcode scanner Mac compatible?

May 8th, 2011 at 04:14am Under Forum

Are USB Barcode scanner Mac compatible?
I’m looking into a USB barcode scanner to scan mostly UPC barcodes.

Now, does it matter WHICH scanner I buy, are they all PC/Mac compatible, as certain things like most memory card readers?

I know the barcode reader just interprets the barcode and turns them into numbers, so I think there’s a possibility that it’s both PC and Mac compatible.

If anyone’s using Mac and has a good USB barcode scanner to recommend, please let me know.

THANKS in advance.

Best answer:

Surely they must be compatible, but the thing is that they must have the proper driver for the device. If its absent it wont work.
