  i believe if you showed them your id form college they should be accepting of it i know that if i had that situation you stated i would not want to give out anything… so whats best to do is show them your college id if they argue against it tell them what happened and how you dont feel comfortable

  If you are going to a bar located in a college town, there is a good possibility that you can get away with the college ID. If you are going to a bar in a big city, forget it! Most clubs won’t accept the liability if they get caught. A college ID is not a legal form of ID, even with a sob story. My suggestion would be to spend the cash and get a state ID with your college address on it.

  EDIT: People please look at your passports. They are supposed to have your address on them, usually written out by you. Oh and giving false information on legal documents (like your passport or applying for a legal ID) is a CRIME!

  get a state id with the wrong address on it. You can wait a month and correct the address without having to get a new ID. the state will have the correct address and you won’t have to live in fear. I know in Ohio they don’t verify your address, so it is real easy to do it. People move all the time and I would guess that it wouldn’t be that hard. Currently my ID has had the wrong address for over a year and no one has ever questioned it. I got my new id on my b-day and moved a couple of months later to a different city, I didn’t want to fund the government by buying a new id so soon and I just haven’t bothered to do it since then.

  even canada is getting picky with i.d. in manitoba everyone is required to have gov.t issued i.d. on them and scanned, AND copied at the door.bars keep them on record and yes they easily can be seen by hackers on line. most bars aren’t bothering due to the cost of the machines and the fact bars are emptysince they banned smoking, but it is the law.i have grey hair and beard and walk with a cane, no id no entry. we held a 70th birthday party for a fella, and you guessed it he was denied enty. here you can get id from the liquor commission, just a photo, name, and birthdate $23.00. my gun permit is acceptable and has no address, status indian card also no address just indian reservation, treaty number, birthdate and name, other than that you are s.o.l, unless you are in the millitary. get a passport, mailed to a P.O??

  i don’t thik college id is legal overall.. just for access into the college and proof you are part of the alumni.

  you have to get a state ID sooner or later.

  nope, you need an official state ID in cases like this along with banking. getting access into federal and government buildings including museums, theater, some restaurants and of course at the airport and to obtain credit and open accounts…

  you need at least one form of state ID and then another form of ID that is state or non.

  sorry.

  if you don’t want trouble… go to places where the reputation is good.

  I was a bartender in NYC. I really and truly feel that your family member had an isolated incident. I have never heard of such a thing.

  BUT, You could only go to places that have bouncers. They don’t pay much attention to the people entering the bar, and certainly have less communication like a bartender.

  You can use a passport. I can’t recall if they have an address.

  You could save an old id that has an old address to use when you are going out. I have two old licences. If you say that you lost one they will replace it for a fee.

  Get a P.O. Box. Most ids have to mailed to you. So you have to have a valid address.

  Lastly, you could ask a manager to id you and tell them of your experience.

  College ids do not work. They are not federally or state approved forms of verification.

  It is something that you will have to deal with. Oklahoma finally got new ids a few years ago (long after I moved) that didn’t have your social on it. That’s right a driver’s license # was your social security number . . . . great, huh?

  Use your passport. It’s legal, it’s always accepted and it doesn’t have your address on it. Just becareful you don’t loose it!

  1- You are not actually going to be safer by not telling bartenders where you live. If you are worried about it, go to a bar with female bartenders.
