    No expert on POS, but some quick thoughts are:

    Bar-code scanner so the system knows what items are being bought.

    Touchscreen for a user to enter and view information, such as amount of cash received and change to give.

    Credit card reader.

    Back-office transactional database.

    Doubtless there’s many more.
