Barcode on eyeliner. Help?
If you rip off the barcode on an eyeliner pencil, will the alarm go off, in CVS. Also, does the alarm detect the barcode on cosmetics? No im not stealing.
Wow okay. You really wanna know dumbasses?? Ok ill tell you. My friend at school said that she stole eyeliner and i asked her how. I asked that because i didnt think it was possible. She said she rips off the barcode and i didnt believe her so now im on yahoo answers. I didnt want to test her theory for real cause I DONT STEAL. Any questions contact me =__=

Best answer:

That’s what the alarms are there for….

Sure sounds like you plan to steal. They have cctv on the watch too so I’d be careful, or better still, don’t.

*edit* Wow okay, we are not dumbasses. Read the question and see that it seemed like you wanted to. Maybe you should put more details in your question next time instead of insulting people.*

Why do you need to know?
The alarm probably won’t go off but they have cameras and those giant mirrors specifically to watch for that.

It has to do with the scanner. If the item is not scan at the register then the alarm will go off.

I have a makeup question. Help please

If you rip the barcode off an eyeliner, the alarm won’t go off. I think it does. If you’re not stealing, then why are you asking?

It depends, some do and some don’t.

Kind of hard to get people to help you after you call them “dumbasses.”

Guys come on…She said “friend” there is no way she would use that as a way to hide the fact that she is talking about herself.

And her “friend” already did this… She is just trying to catch her “friend” in a lie. It’s not like she is planning on trying this and wanted to know if that was possible I mean she is an upstanding person. You can tell by the company she keeps…You know people that steal from CVS or at the very least buy something then lie about stealing it so that they can look cool or have their “friends” try something and get caught.

Barcodes don’t contain the device that sets off alarms
only things like ink tags or stickers do
but I’m quite sure that barcodes don’t effect anything

You don’t even have to take the barcode off there’s nothing on eyeliner pencils to set off the alarms. I’ve walked out with eyeliner without it being scanned and no alarm went off, not on purpose but still.

Some brands it is in the bar code yes, Other things might be inside the lid of the item or box. I hope she gets caught soon !! You don’t need a friend that steals. She will only drag you down with her, not a good friend to have.
