Barcode scanner not working with dos?
Barcode scanner not working with dos?
I just bought a symbol ls2208 barcode scanner with rs232 interface.I cant get it work with dos. I can see the numbers scanned in notepad but not in my dos program.I tried to use bc-wedge which supports dos but it doesnt work with vista. Please help me find a program send my barcode data to dos, or a way to send keystrokes to dos
Thanks for the answer.
1.Well the 123scan (the program symbol provides did not found the scanner at all, so i downloaded a program called scanner2kb to do my job. I have tried many other programs too.
2.The program I use to interfere the scanner with my pc is called scanner2kb and it’s written in windows. The cash register (pos) program is written in dos. My laptop came with vista when i bought it
Best answer:
1. Did you install the software for the rs232 interface?
–I am assuming you are using this because USB does not work easily in DOS.
2. Is you software (that you are using the barcode scanner with) DOS Based or Vista based (you mention both Operating Systems).
–Will watch for additional details and will update then
Thank you for the additional information on the program you are running, but there is still some data missing.
The other conflict you will have is running a DOS based program on Vista (it does not have a DOS base like Windows 3x, and 9x –Microsoft started moving away from that with XP).
Are you running a “dos emulator” to use the program/or hardware inside Windows vista?
Did you install the software(drivers) for the rs232 interface? Because until these are installed, the computer will not recognize that the scanner is attached.
Since the scanner software you use is Windows based have you tried connecting the Scanner to the computer using the USB connection and drivers?
