barcode scanner programming?
barcode scanner programming?
I bought a sharp xe-a206 cash Register for my retail shop.
The PLU field is only 4 digit long.
The barcodes are 13 digit long.
How to input/program barcodes in the plu field?
There is no other field to accept 13 digit barcode.
I’d greatly appreciate your help.
Kind Regards
Raj

A barcode scanner will simply read what it sees. It substitutes as a keyboard entry device.
The computer simply sees it as a keyboard.
They can usually be programmed to add pre-amble and post amble codes and to recognize certain types of code, EAN, etc.
Have a look at the programming manual for your scanner.
You may need some form of lookup software to convert the EAN codes to your PLU codes, or print barcode labels with your PLU numbers on them.
Many register programs have a feature for you to create such a table.
