Barcodes on car windows?
Alright, so I am in Florida on a trip from Ontario and my boyfriend and I have noticed a ton of barcodes on the rear windows of many cars down here. What does this barcode mean? We have never seen anything like this before and interested as to what these barcodes mean.
Best answer:
Some dealers and car rental companies use a barcoding system to keep track of their inventory.
And if you look at the VIN number on the dash of your own car you will see that the factory added a barcode to your vehicle too.

If you live in a gated community, you can put the barcode on your car so you dont have to punch in a code or use a clicker. just keep on driving. that’s how mine works. It also logs when you entered or left the subdivision.

its probably VIN etching. some people etch their vin number on their windows to prevent theft. the theory is that if a theif has the replace all the windows to get rid of the VIN number, the theif might think the price of replacing windows would make it not worth stealing that particular car. its not exactly the best, its good in theory, but theives steal cars to just take out all the parts too meaning they wouldn’t try to sell it to be used on the road. so they wouldn’t be too concerned about the VIN number being on all windows.
