i was wondering if it’s possible to get a scanner of some sort to test for a broadband signal in my area instead of paying different suppliers to come out and charge me each time to check for a signal .ps i’m talking about wireless and mobile broadband in Ireland

There is, but the cost of the kit plus the training to use it puts it way out of the range of the individual user.
The cost of the service reflects how expensive a proper survey is.
