Best answer:

Bar codes only need the code to be readable on one tiny little spot over the whole length of the bars. And not even necessarily at a right angle. If every bar has a spot on it where it is printed properly, and you can draw a straight line across those areas of the bars, the code can be read.

So it depends on exactly how your printer behaves at low ink levels.

    If your bar code is not printed correctly, you will be immediately arrested and thrown into jail as a suspected terrorist attempting to get false access onto an airplane! It will take dozens of lawyers hundreds of hours to straighten out your mess and you will miss your flight and probably lose your job, and you and your children will lose your home and starve to death…

    Make sure you get it right!

    Print it, if it does not work, show them an ID and they will reprint your boarding pass…
