Can anyone tell me what the numbers at the bottom of a cigarette pack represent ?
Can anyone tell me what the numbers at the bottom of a cigarette pack represent ?
I’ve been in the restaurant business for a few years and been asked many questions. Today a client asked me the very question I now ask you… and I had no idea apart from guessing that it was the batch number ??? If anyone knows what the correct answer is please be so kind as to inform/educate me !
The number usually comprises of 9-10 digits. The first 2-3 are letters. I am not referring to the barcode which is on the right of the box. Interested only in the one at the bottom.

who cares what it means…..smoking is bad for you and has bad stuff like rat parts, acid, lighter fluid, carbonmonoxide, corbondioxide, and other crap in it.

I always thought it was numbered colour codes for the printing company that makes the packets. Like the little coloured squares too.

It is the tobacco company’s estimate at how many deaths it caused after the cigarette pack in question is finished being smoked.

Those numbers and letters tell the maker what store gets those particular cigarettes. If you call in to the company to complain about the cigarettes, they will ask you the number on the bottom. That tells them where the cigarette was made and where it was shipped to and/or bought from. Then they will issue you a refund or send you a coupon to replace the bad ones.

Maybe it is the state tax number, since illegal cigarettes wouldn’t be stamped, but even packs in cartons are

its probably just the lot number just like on medications. the company puts that on there to know what batch basically that came from, and they can track where they go. did you see a exp. date too? usually the exp date and lot number are next to eachother.
