can i download and run an application on a flash drive?
i want to print coupons that require a barcode printer application download. i dont have a printer at home but i do at work. but i can’t download applications on my work computer. seems like i read somewhere that i can download and run applications on a flash drive? is that correct?

Wow. Yes. You can run a portable program off of a flash drive. As long as the program doesnt need to install special settings to the computer you install it to, you can run it off of a flash drive.
Here’s an alternative. Take a snapshot of the barcode from the computer using Alt + printscreen (located above the delete and home keys) and then paste it into paint or something. You can then save the picture a print it at work without any special software.

You can download the installation program to your flash drive and install it (to the flash drive) at work. It probably won’t run if you plug the flash drive into another computer, but it will if you run it on the computer you installed it from. (Installing a program makes a few changes to the computer, even if you install it to a flash drive – programs store some data in the computer’s registry.)

Here’s a suggestion. You can print your coupons using a PDF printer. You can also convert it to image or postscript etc.
Save the file on your flash drive and print it at work.
hint: There are a lot of free file conversion software in the internet. just google it!
