Can I have two printers connected to my Mac at the same time, via USB?
I have an eMac (running MacOS 10.3.9) at home, as well as an inkjet printer/scanner/copier (aka all-in-one) and a laser printer. Would like to connect both to the eMac, via USB, using only one at a time. Is this feasible, or would I have to plug and unplug the cables?
Best answer:
If you had a network it would be possible.

Yes, you can have multiple usb devices connected such as a printer, just set one as the default, or select them from the print menu when printing. I have 2 different printers, 1 brother and 1 lexmark.

You can, if you have enough free USB ports. Otherwise you will need to get a USB hub and plug the printers into the hub. In my experience, externally powered hubs work more reliably than hubs that draw power through the USB cable.

I use Windows with two printers via USB ports.
I have to make one the default printer when I print, (easy to do).
Reason: I have one bigger capacity printer for black and white for larger print jobs and one for color printing, scanning and faxing. The color one has smaller cartridges and they’re not cheap.
The larger one has a big cartridge, I can print 3,000 pages with one cartridge, for about $55.00.
;-)
PS: I imagine an eMac would have the same capability.
