I’m sure there is a system out there, if not contact your local computer nerds about designing a software system that tracks newly created barcodes and subtracts barcodes that have been purchased.

No you have to use one designed for it. It has to be one which has bar code reader, and computer with software to track amount sold.

You would have to capture the data somehow. It’s only a ten digit number and there is a human readable version printed below it; so you could write it down, but that would be slow and laborious.

Having captured the data you would then have to figure out what items were represented by the numbers.

    Possible but not easy.

    Teara,

Yes, you definitely can do that. In fact, using barcoding will help you speed up the process and reduce human error significantly. There are a lot of different inventory management and barcoding systems out there.

For a small business, my recommendation would be a system that combines the cash register, inventory management, and bookkeeping functions. A great example on an inexpensive option to do this would be a version of Intuit’s Quickbooks. They call it Quickbooks POS (Point of Sale). You can learn more about the software on their website at this address: quickbooks.intuit.com/product/accounting-software/retail-pos-solutions/

If you need help with the actual barcodes, you could contact us for help.

Hope this helps! Best of luck with your new business. . .

You can take a look at inFlow Inventory. It is a basic inventory system that has all the esstenials, including barcode tracking.

They have a Free version that is free forever, but limits to 100 products and customers. The software itself is very easy to use and fast to install.

    Here is their website:

    Hope this helps!
