The backlight shouldn’t be flashing….ever. If there are any errors, it should just list it on the display. So a flashing backlight sounds like there’s a power supply issue or a short in the cabling or circuit board.
Make sure you’re not plugged into a power strip or UPS, but straight into a wall power outlet. Power strips & UPS’ often cause power problems with printers. Check and make sure the power cord is fully plugged in and secured at both ends.
Otherwise I’d say you’d need to have a tech look at it or send it in for repair.
