Datamax iclass printer ribbon sticks to labels?

I have an iclass printer at work. I tried recalibrating it. The ribbon is sticking to the labels as it comes out. I can’t figure out why. They are using the same labels and ribbons as they always have. They changed the label and the ribbon but the same thing happens.

The ribbon sounds like it has been inverted. Sometimes the rolls come with the wrong side out.
Make sure the shiny side is away from the labels and the matte side is towards them.

The calibration procedure only calibrates the printer’s media sensors (how it views the label media labels and the backing material) and the length of each label, it does not affect how the print is printed on the label.

It’s remotely possible that the ribbon is installed incorrectly (reversed with the wrong side facing the media), but that usually only results in no print.

    There are two possibilities.
    1) The printhead temperature (darkness) setting is too high or too low for the ribbon and media being used. It is usually around 15 or 20 for the best results.

    2) The ribbon take-up spindle is not loaded or working correctly to properly pull the used ribbon from the media as it exits the printhead area. The ribbon may be slipping on the take-up spindle instead of getting a good friction grip, or the spindle mechanism may not be working properly and turning at the right speed with the proper tension to pull the ribbon off.

Usually when that happens I get a call from the customer to come check it out and fix it, but without being able to see it first hand, it’s hard to say for sure what’s going on with yours. It might be time to call in a trained (on thermal printers) technician to take a look at it.
