Do club lasers need fog/smoke for the light beams to show?
I really want to buy a laser machine for my light stand and I’ve always wondered do the laser machines need fog/smoke to create those really cool light beams.

I want to try to get the “OmniSistem Twister DMX Double Scanner Effect Laser,” the “OmniSistem Magic Box Laser Effect,” and/or the “OmniSistem Club Laser DMX.”

All of them are really cool but I want to know if it requires fog/smoke to make the beams show and what not…

Care to help?

Best answer:

you could get dry ice…

You need smoke to see the beams, or else they are just points on a wall.

Most likely, they do. I was in a band a few years ago, and we had to have a fog machine to get our lighting to show up, including our laser effects. You could try dry ice, but in my experience the “fog” from it thins out just a few inches off the floor, making it mostly useless.

You need something for the light to bounce off of. Sometimes fog or smoke is the best thing to use.. we use mesh cloths hung from the cielings at some places where the ceilings are high enough for it.

Or.. you can always get dry ice.. though it’s kind unpredictable(put some shampoo in the water btw.. it’ll make everything smell nice.)
