Do i need to put a stamp on my postcard if it has a barcode where the stamp normally goes?
i’m on vacation and trying to mail post cards to my friends back home… on the post cards where a stamp would normally go (upper right corner), there is a bar code. does this mean that i don’t need to put a stamp on it? it doesn’t say anywhere on the post card “postage prepaid” or anything like that… helllppp…

the barcode goes there because it’s an unused space that isn’t going to be written on – you still need a stamp!

Yes. The only time you do not need to send postage is when the card or letter says “Postage Paid Unit” or “Business Reply Mail” on it.

Yes, thats what the cashier scans when you buy the postcard, and its the only spot for it, because it will get covered with a stamp. It wont interfere with the writing area.
I worked at the PO once, and quite often people write on the entire card (both halves), and dont put an address on it. They wonder why it never arrrived !

It’s just the postcard’s UPC symbol. Put a stamp on the postcard. You aren’t getting the postage for free. Also, if the stamp doesn’t cover the whole post card, black out the rest of the barcode with a pen so it doesn’t confuse the barcode machines at the post office.

where is the barcode located? If it doesn’t say anything on the stamp then you need to put a stamp on or if it say’s ”postcard prepaid’ or “prepaid” then you don’t need to put a stamp on it. ( called the post office and asked. But, you don’t have to pick me as best answer just trying help.let me know if i didn’t answer the question well)
