Do two of the exact same cd’s have the same barcode?
Do two of the exact same cd’s have the same barcode?
I bought something in october from e-bay and now have reason to suspect it may be fake. So my question is if you had two of the exact same cd say two of taylor swifts new cd fearless and compared both of them would they have the same barcode on the back or not?

I worked at a retail bookstore and for items that are the same, yes, the barcodes were often the same. Not ALWAYS. I mean sometimes a CD was re-released and then is classified as a “new” item, but I sold 500 fun pens and all of them were 978000….blahblahblah.

Yes, as long as the bar code is part of the back cover (not a retailer specific sticker)

yes, they would, if they were made by same company, and were the same ‘model’, made around the same time etc.

If the barcode is on the CD and the CDs are of coarse EXACTLY the same then yes the Bar Codes should be the same.

Yeah.

not necessarily, if a production time stamp is in the barcode then each one would be different.

They will not have the same exact barcode, because when you buy a cd they have to scan it to make sure that when you leave, some kind of security device will not go off. If someone buys the same cd, they do not want that person to be able to walk out of the store without paying for it.

Cheshire, i really didn’t want to say anything, but i didn’t want you’re comment to mislead others.
They are talking about the UPC bar code which you scan at the end of POS.
You are talking about the Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) one of the many types of Magnetic Strip Alarms.
They are completely different things, they deactivate those using something under the desk to erase the data on the strip. It has NOTHING to do with BARCODEs.
Their purpose is different; one is to track items, stock and sale, the other is to track shoplifting.
But yes, carry on, i was actually reading up on if barcodes can be the same on every product.
