Do we need to label solutions to our problems?

Do we need to label solutions to our problems?

Why does it have to be Socialism, Capitalism, or Utopiashawrightism?

How about “This is my proposed solution so that people get a liveable compensation for doing a good job and the rich can still get rich and we are all happy?”
Are we really that attached to classifying what category this falls into?
But Young@58, this is not at all the case. A politician rarely goes and says this is my conservative or this is my liberal solution. They have to explain what they are talking about. Then people put it into a nice little group and say “The liberals’ solution is x or the conservatives’ solution is x”
Group names will not solve problems in most situations.

Putting people in classes is another form of hate…

Of course! That way it’s easier to refer to the subject and all the things that define it. Imagine how hard it would be to go around saying “this is my proposed solution . . . ” all the time instead of referring to the “thing” which your words represent.
Yes, we are quite attached to classification, and it happens in every imaginable area of life: science, medicine, education, mental health, work, you name it!

Thank you! I couldn’t agree more. Why is it so friggin’ important to divide everything into separate idealologies, etc, when so many of them have both good and bad points. Why not take the road of common sense for the common good??

Maybe it’s that old mystical thing about names having power, i.e. if we name it, we have a sense of power over it…

It’s simply the way of our culture. Everything must be micro-defined.
