does developing an eating card operating system need to be done on magnetic cards or can it be done on barcode
Can information be added to barcode cards, so for instance topping the card up after swiping it and then using it as a debit card in a resturant or does it have to be done on magnetic ones.. I want to develop an operating system but i was wondering if it would be possible to be done on barcode cards where it is linked to a live database and from there it can deduct the amount spent.

info isnt stored on the card. only a number. that number then is linked to an account and the account is tracked with software on a computer. the number could be on a barcode or a magnetic strip
