No, idiot. The barcode doesn’t set off the alarm, an electronic chip does.

The dumber question is the question itself. The barcode is just a series of patterns that help scanners identify the item information.. it has no relationship to the security system whatsoever. The alarm trigger is usually buried in the product / the product packing itself so it is inaccessible to be removed.

Depends on where you live most barcodes don’t beep, unless jewlery or electronic. But marking with a sharpie will work or you can just scratch the bar code or some items tear it off. I live in wv and bar codes never set the alarm unless its from those two departments. Other than that once you get out the door even if the alarm does beep most states the employees cannot come after you after you get off the sideewalk. Good luck hope I helped.

that is what i asked. idk how people take anything when the bar code is printed on but doesnt have a metal chip. i was wondering if you marked it out with a sharpie if it would still go off.
