Does scanning concert tickets at home with a pc scanner void them because of the barcode?
Does scanning concert tickets at home with a pc scanner void them because of the barcode?
I was not thinking about it but i hope it does not. Does anyone know if they wont work when they scan them at the venue. Please Help
Best answer:
When you scan a BarCode you read it, like you would read a book, unless your scanner literally alters the BarCode somehow the BarCode will still work.
Think of it this way your friend (the photocopier) reads a book(the BarCode) then you (the concert people) read it after-wards. As long as your friend didn’t change any of the letters then you will still be able to read it.
You should however be careful not to try and use the photocopied tickets, the bar codes on those may have small deficiencies from the scan and most probably won’t work.
(Hope that helps!)

No.
The readers at the venues/concerts are actually wireless, and validates / updates their database of valid tickets. As your reader is not connected to their database, nothing will happen to your codes.
EDIT I see where are some doubters…
“Q: How do you ensure that people don’t duplicate their print-at-home tickets?
A: The only way to guarantee that a print-at-home ticket has not been duplicated is to provide a unique bar code on each ticket and to scan each individual ticket at the gate to check for validity. This requires wireless scanning equipment, a technical staff, a fast wireless network and wireless routers and repeaters placed throughout your venue.”
