I know you can download the app but does it have the actual scanner/capability/ability to use the app?
Best answer:
Yes, I’ve got a barcode scanner app on my Ally and it works great.

That capability is actually software, called Google Shopper. So yes, you can download that for free from Android Market.

Yes you can do that. you would have to of course download the program that will allow you to do that. The program is entitled Bar Code Scanner which you can get from the droid market on the phone itself but it is not free. You will have to pay to get the program itself but From what I have heard, It is very worth it. There will be other programs that are going to seem similar to the bar code scanner and be cheaper and or free. I would stick away from those programs and or read what the ratings have to say left by the other people. I hope that this helps! PS The Ally ROCKS.. HAHA got mine yesterday :)

Yes. As an Android phone, it can use the same software as the Droid.
I’ve used 3 different barcode apps:
Barcode Scanner
Google Shopper
ShopSavvy
They all work well.
