Having Problems With My Wireless Signal?

Having Problems With My Wireless Signal?
I have no idea whats going on with my wireless signal. . . Could it be because of my Police Scanner? Can a police scanner interfere with wireless signals? I tried changing my Wireless Channel, but that didn’t work either. That only made my wireless computer stop connecting.

Best answer:

make sure that there is no Micorwave, Cordless Phones and / or any kind of device working with different sorts of Electro-Magnetic Waves near by the router.

Try placing your wireless modem at the highest point possible in the room. Also, keep all other electronic equipment as far away from it as possible. Changing channels on the modem will cause you to have to delete your wireless setup on the laptop and reconfigure it. Also, someone else in your area may have just started using the same channel as you. The police scanner is fine as long as it is not sitting right next to the modem or the laptop.

Could you give more information as to what is happening?

    1. cordless phones of 2.4ghz frequency will interfere with it, 5.8 ghz sometimes falls back to the 2.4ghz frequency and can cause problems — if you have cordless phones near the modem, move them

    2. while uncommon, microwaves can cause problems

    3. change the channel to 1 or 11, they typically work best

    4. look for an option to change your fragmentation threshold and try setting it to 2048
