ΒΆ (Pi, the symbol in case they do’t accept unicode text)
City of God (Ciudad De Deus,)
The Motorcycle Diaries
Pee Wee’s Big Adventure (Yes for real)
Clerks
Wonderland
The Big Lebowski
A Scanner Darkly
Akira
The Princess Bride
V for Vendetta
Quills
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Amadeus
Shine
Go!
Amelie
Yellow Submarine (original, not the remastered/rereleased version)
The Jacket
The Matrix (first one in particular)

Not exactly a particular genre to classify them all in, but hopefully the variety will help bring all sorts of stuff to mind. If you recommend a movie, please explain why you are recommending this movie. Thanks!
Actually, I am very particular to movies. I dislike nearly all movies I see. I have a strong distaste for something not superbly impressive in some way.

Also: I’ve seen Spirited Away. Fabulous movie. ;)

Best answer:

Empire Of The Sun is a great one to see, also if you like Shakespear at all then the movie Titus starring Anthony Hopkins is a pretty well put together movie.

I’m guessing you’ve already seen Reservoir Dogs if you liked Pulp Fiction. If not, check it out.
Dark City is a good one if you liked Pi and the Matrix
Seven Samurai–classic and based on your list I’m guessing you won’t be put off by the subtitles
Ninth Gate–not for everyone, but if you like Johnny Depp and an unusual premise…
Jacob’s Ladder–again, not for everyone, but everyone needs to
see it once to decide for themselves. then you have to watch it again and try to figure what the heck you just saw

    EDIT:
If you like Amadeus, you might like Immortal Beloved (the Beethoven biopic)

I have to say other than Alfred Hitchcock movies, which goes with out comment, the following are pretty good: The Power of One-for the music, the message, The Money Pit-Just because it’s funny, been there, almost done that. The Lion King for animation, music and message, and I have to say lately, the movie CARS, because in watching, you forget you are watching an animated film. Pixar is wonderful….I love old movies by the Marx Bros. there is no comedy like that, and my favorite of all time is Gone With the Wind…..no further comment needed, so if you are in the mood, I recommend all of them for inspiration, laughter, entertainment and just plain old romance……….

Napoleon Dynamite: This is an off the wall comedy that you either love or hate. Since you have some other off the wall stuff (O Brother, Pee Wee, Pulp Fiction) I think you would enjoy it

The Royal Tannibaums: Another off the wall movie that you either love or hate. I liked it because I like Ben Stiller.

Isn’t Amelie awesome? That’s my favourite movie of all time.

I found Crash was quite good.
Once Were Warriors… old but very intense.
Dead Man – Has Johnny Depp in it. It looks stupid from the case but is very very good. (theres not much action but is a strange story)
    Resident Evil was good
The Lord Of The Rings series was quite well done and easy to watch
Castaway with tom hanks was good… mainly because it’s my dream to be cast away on a island
American History X is a good story
    Fight Club was good
The Score was alright as well

There are a whole lot of others and as I remember them I might add them in here.

Several of your movies rate highly with me as well, so I feel confident in recommending a few others I love:
    1) Lord of the Rings (all). These are extremely powerful, character-driven masterpieces comprising a single, awesome epic. Get the extended versions.
    2) Memento. It will make you think about perception and memory and their effects on what is true and what is a lie.
    3) Kill Bill, both volumes. Much like Pulp Fiction, these are chock full of Tarantino goodness.
    4) Blade Runner. Possibly the greatest pure science fiction movie of all time. Get the director’s cut, because the theatrical version got somewhat butchered.
    5) Try anything from this grab-bag: Legend (Director’s Cut), 12 Monkeys, Crash, Groundhog Day, Hard Candy, A History of Violence, Maria Full of Grace, and The Usual Suspects.

The Last Seduction – Linda Fiorentino plays one of the most evil characters of all time and Peter Berg plays the innocent who falls for her.
