How can I turn a wireless router into a print server?
I currenly have an inkjet all-in-one scanner/printer with an ethernet jack. I also have a color laser printer with an ethernet jack. Can I turn an old wireless router into a print server? I currently have an Apple Airport Extreme Base Station on the other side of the house and would like to have the two printers as netwrok printers on my home network) located about 75ft away from the base station).
How do I assign a static IP to a non-computer device? Isn’t that usually done on the device itself?
Best answer:
Mine is set up that way but I use static IP addresses, I just set the all in one printer up just like a computer on my network (assign it an IP & Name). If you are letting your router assign IP addresses you might have to configure the printer to one of your computers by wire and enable sharing over your network, I have a second printer with no Ethernet jack that I keep available on my network that way. It works fine that way except the host computer has to be on for it to print.
