How do I go about making labels?
How do I go about making labels?
I want to make these labels on Microsoft Word. I’ve been trying for like a year. I know how to make a single label in “Letters and Mailings, Envelopes and Labels” or how to make a page of the same label. I want to type my stinkin labels, different ones and print them at the same time!

What type of labels do you want to print? If it’s a sheet of adhesive labels, then it shouldn’t be too difficult to do, in theory. In practice it does take a bit of trial and error. For example, if your sheet has 5 rows of 5 labels, make a table that has five rows and five columns, with each cell being the same size as each label, and make sure that the cells are set to fixed width so they don’t expand when you type in the text. Set the margins to correspond to the margins around the labels, with the gutter set to 0. Once you have everything set, and have your text entered, print out a copy on plain paper, then see if the cells line up with the labels. You might have to do some adjusting to get them to fit right.

Try this (Word XP (2002) and adjacent versions. Word Vista (2007) should have something similar):
1. Click the Tools->Letters and Mailings->Envelopes and Labels menu item.
2. Click the Labels tab.
3. Click the Full Page of labels radio button.
4. Click the Options button.
5. Select the label size you want to use.
6. Click the OK button.
7. Click the New Document button. This will create a full page of that label type.
8. To see the lines between labels, click the Tables->Show Gridlines menu item. The gridlines won’t print.
You can save that page as either a document or a template for future use.
Hope that helps.
