How do parking decals and towing work?
I was curious as to how parking decals for an apartment, and towing work.

I just moved into an apartment that gives tenants parking passes. It’s pretty much the company’s logo, with a 5 digit number underneath. I also had to give them my car information (not my license number though, because I didn’t remember it off the top of my head and they said it was okay. I’m guessing they could just figure it out somehow) A tow truck will go around daily (er…nightly) and tow cars that don’t have parking decals, visitor passes, or have been parked there for more than 2 nights and 3 days.

I’m just wondering how they take note of that. Do they just take notice of the car a lot, do they check just for the decal, or put the number in a little computer that checks it off? Or is that number just for the people that work at the apartment to be like, “hm, I don’t remember that car. *looks up number” I unno. I guess the number confuses me xD especially since theres no barcode or anything, and this is the first apartment I’ve had with decals. So I’m curious.

They check the sticker. They check the plates. It’s not rocket science.

The # does not mean anything. It is just the office’s way to keep track of them. The tow truck people just look for the sticker. If a car without a sticker is parked there they would note the license plate # & check for it the next night. If it is there more than is allowed (apparently 2 nights) then they will tow it.
