How do the alarms work at shop exits?

Id just like to mention that im not planning on robbing a shop! Ive just always been curious as ive just checked most of the things ive just bought from the shop and they all have the same barcode. How does them alarm know which ones are stolen and which ones arnt as there are no special tags or anything on them.

Sometimes if your buying more than one thing they scan just the one item and times it by how ever many you have.

How does all this work?

The security scanners are not concerned with bar codes, tags, or sensors. They look directly into your soul and query your RecentSins database where they compare the most recent sinType = “Theft” with the sinDate field.

Say you stole a bike Tuesday and bought eggs Wednesday . The sinDate on that theft will be older than the date you bought eggs so you get by. But when you steal from the store, the moment you leave the store with the un-purchased merchandise, the sinDate is equal to the EXACT moment you left and sinType is theft.
