if you have sticky residue left over, just melt it off with a hair dryer, it works really good.

I put vegetable oil on the complete sticker and let sit overnight or at least a few hours. It slides right off.

If soaking in water doesn’t get the label off, acetone usually will (like in nail polish remover).

Goof-off is my favorite product. Works for sticky residue as well as crayons on the walls!

use a product called goo be gone, you can find it in a hardware store.
Another option is to soak the jars or cans until the paper becomes wet and can peel off easily but if you get stuck on paper use the other product.

Rubbing alcohol.
Well, I think you use rubbing alcohol, its supposed to “burn” off the adhesive without damaging anything.
Either that or hydrogen peroxide.
I can’t remember which.

1) Remove all the lable you can by scraping/peeling
2) Spray rag with WD-40 spray (buy from autoparts stores.
3) Wipe on glue to remove glue.
4) Wash can with soap and water.

I’ve removed allot of labels, W-D40 is what I have found to work best, remove as much of the label as possible, then use a rag with W-D40 and gently rub glue area, if allot of glue exist then you will probably need to use fresh areas of rag to absorb the glue, works great on any sticky residue.
