how do you use bar codes in tracking files?
how do you use bar codes in tracking files?
please explain the whole process. I don’t get it. And what equipments do you need? thanks
Best answer:
Barcodes have nothing to do with files. When you read a barcode you get the characters in the barcode – numbers and letters. That’s what you store in files.

charLee,
Barcodes are definitely useful in tracking files. If by files, you mean paper files.
We have quite a few clients how use bar codes printed on individual documents and/or file folders to track, sort, and inventory documents. Law and accounting practices are great examples of this.
In the past, only document ID numbers and such were used for this purpose. However, outfitting files with barcodes (speak: printing them on the documents) makes perfect sense as it speeds up the filing process, avoids human keying errors during data input, and generally increases efficiency in processing files.
Hope this helps.
