Not at all. It is an unfortunate side effect of people believing that only their point of view is correct. That trend seems to run on all sides. And it is responsible for most of the unfortunate things that happen in politics.

Name calling and bashing is all that happens while the situation in the US continues to get worse.

I agree with you.
Name calling and snide labels thought up by high priced consultants have a big impact on voter’s perceptions of a candidate.
I’ve become convinced that the majority of US voters want immediate results and are so lazy that ridiculous catch-phrases and smears are easier to sell to them than a rational discussion of the issues.
Although it should also be against the law for lawyers to write the explanation of the issues.
