How often do you change the fuel filter on a diesel engine?

6.6 Datamax turbo diesel. Fuel filter gage fuel filter life gage always says 100%. I think it’s broke.
How often should this be changed? What are indicators it needs to be changed?
Thanks in advance.

You will feel a noticable loss in power, then it will actually slow down. Depending on the size of the filter you can get 15 thousand miles, that’s the recommended interval says Chevy, good fuel quality and the age of the tank will have a factor as well.

ide say every 30k miles if your running halfway decent fuel.

but remember to drain your water out of the filter once a month ESPECIALLY in winter. water collects in diesel, and if the seperator isnt drained it will carry over into the engine. Water does not compress, and youll potentially do bigtime damage to the engine.
