How should my business begin using a barcode and scanner system?
I have a semi-annual consignment business. We only open for business 2 times a year. During that time, over 500 consignors price their own merchandise and bring it to our store. Presently, they write their ID number and the item’s price on a tag and then at checkout, we remove the tag to enter in Microsoft Excel later. Over 30,000 tags have to be manually entered into the computer. Barcodes would be much easier, but I don’t know how to get started. How can I use barcodes and still allow the consignor to make their own price? Any help is appreciated!

Best answer:

its beneficial but the bar code has to be put on the items by the suppliers. if you start putting, then its the same.

its on their part. you can force them do so by providing them with any incentive.

i think, then it could work.
