How to convert a car handheld vacuum to use it at home?

I have a car handheld vacuum which (of course) connects to the cigarette lighter in the car. Can I use it in the house? If so, which gadget should I get in order to change the power connector to a regular plug-in electrical device?

    check your electronic chargers, if 1 is 12 volt you can wire it up to vacuum and it will work

    It would be cheaper to buy a home handheld than to convert that one over. Plus the one for the home will have twice the suction power as the one for the car

    Buy a converter that plugs into your 120 volt outlet but only puts out 12 volts. Check electronics stores or online. Try here for example http://www.shop.com/120+to+12+volt+converter?g=1&t=2&p=259430380&k=24
