How to get off the barcode scanning screen on my blackberry bold?

I just got the blackberry bold from verizon and i wanted to scan someones barcode for BBM but i couldn’t find the barcode and now my phone is stuck trying to scan nothing! how do i get off the screen? i tried clicking the end button but it wont work! Or better how do i get the battery out?

    If it’s stuck in this mode then take out the battery or press Alt+Shift+Del at the same time to do a soft reset.

    To remove the battery for a hard reset use your thumbs to press downwards on the backplate and slide it downwards. Once the back plate is off you will see the large battery. There is a small slit where you can stick your nail in and press slightly upwards to lift the battery out.
