How to visually read barcodes (EAN-13)?

Hello,

Is it possible to decode the values that appear on a barcode by looking at it? I would like to know the numerical value of the barcode in this image http://wikimon.net/images/8/8d/St-910.jpg because the image itself is not good enough quality to be scanned by the compatable toy (Digimon D-Scanner 3.0).

P.S. To me it looks like EAN-13 0 000000 13x31x where the x’s are the numbers I don’t know.
P.S. I’ve tried software that supposedly reads it (ZBar) but its seriously junk.

    Had a look at the barcode and it’s a C39 not an EAN13.With practice, lots of practice, you can read a barcode visually. I was involved in a production project that used C39 barcodes and was able to read them visually at the end of the three months although I’ve lost the skill now. Most toys use EAN13 codes off of supermarket products so it wouldn’t understand a C39 barcode. Reset your ZBar s’ware to read C39 and I think you’ll find it’ll read it.
