I can’t get Windows Mobile-device to see the com port. I don’t know what else to do.?

Using MS vista home basic, 446mb memory, Aten Usb to Serial bridge (com#), no firewall or virus scanners running. It was seeing the port before but never connected. I am connecting a barcode scanner to this low preformance laptop. Please only serious responces.
MS Win Vista Home Base – uses around 256mb – but why is it that after I deleted the communication port and reloaded my drivers for my serial-usb cable Win Mobile Device stop listing the com port
