I have a symbol LS2208 barcode scanner that has a DB9 serial connector. since my computer doesn’t support that port, i bought a USB – DB9 connector and i can’t get it to work even with the driver software that came with the adapter. Does anyone know of a driver that might make this work?
Best answer:
I think you need a seperate power supply for the scanner, there may be a socket on its serial plug, or on a plastic blob on the cable with a socket.
I can’t remember the voltage offhand but think it may be around 5Vdc.
Just had another thought, I think you just have to change the cable on the scanner for a USB one. Theres a wee hole on the handle you poke a paperclip in to release it, but no clue how much the new cable would cost
