The CD that came with the printer is not compatible with Windows 7. Only XP and Vista. The printer is an HP Photosmart C4580 All-in-One.

Hi Ali,
According to the Windows 7 Compatibility Center, your printer actually is compatible with Windows 7: microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/Details.aspx?type=Hardware&p=HP%20Photosmart%20C4580%20All-in-One%20Printer&v=HP&uid=Q8401A&pf=0&pi=9&s=hp%20photosmart&os=32-bit. You might try contacting the manufacturer to see if there’s a way to install your printer without using the original Install CD.
Just because a device doesn’t have the “Compatible with Windows 7″ logo, doesn’t mean it definitely won’t work. The logo is present on devices “that have passed Microsoft-designed tests for compatibility and reliability on Windows 7.” More info here: msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/dd203105.aspx
Good luck installing your printer, Ali!
