I need help picking the right printer/copier/scanner that can scan to PDFs.?
Does anyone have any advice on which printer/copier/scanner I should buy? I want it to be laser, and not color. Likewise, the key function I want it to do is scan documents to PDF. I do not want a super expensive printer, prb under USD 400. Does anyone have any advice?
Thanks

Boss My simple advice is: Now a days CANNON, HP etc company are having very good models. But you have to get the proper service. You must find out from the Shop about the service of the product, because for these item there is always a chance for going out of order very frequently.

Get a HP all-in-one unit.
The best one is the HP 6500 for the money. It has a very high rating and extremely reliable and easy to use.

or , if you want to spend more, check this one out.. It also works wireless :)

Hi There,
None of the scanners will “scan to PDF”.
For that you need the proper OCR software.
Most scanners have OCR applications that can scan an image, convert it to text and then “send” the (converted) text document to your word prossor.
Note: you will need to carefully read and edit the document because OCR programs are only about 90-98 per cent accurate. Also you will have to pay attention to the formatting and adjust as needed.
Below is a link for a free “scan to PDF” application. It may work on it may not.
Brother has always had the best “low cost” laser printers and they offer all-in-one units now.
below is a link for a Brother all-in-one that should meet your needs.
Probably any of the name brand all-in-one machines would work fine for you. I would purchase one from a local merchant who has a good “return” policy. Mail order can be a hassle if there is a problem.
The best “scan to PDF” software would be Adobe Acrobat 9.0 (but it costs approx. $ 449-).
However if you really need good quality that is the one you need.
Hope this helps,
Al
