I need to print custom tags, labels for a retail store. What are my options?
I own a retail pharmacy and want to print my own professional shelf tags complete with my store logo, item information, barcode and price. I wanted to know what range of options I have. I -prefer something inexpensive yet professional, but am open to any idea even if it is a little costly in the short-term.

Best answer:

1. get a graphic designer so the tags look good.

2. get a good printer / or order them online

YOU WISH TO MAKE POPULAR YOUR SHOP OR PHARMACY NAME…….?
YOU MAY GET THE LOGO PRINTED AND THE NAME OF MEDICENE IN SUFFICENT QUANTITY FOR MOST UTLISED ITEMS ON STICKERS WHICH ARE NOW EASILY AVAILABLE AND FOR THOSE ITEMS WHICH NOT USED IN LARGE QUANTITY YOU MAY SAVE A LOGO ON THE COMPUTER AND PRINT THEM FOR FEW ITEMS
I HOPE YOU CAN DO IT BUT IT IS VERY RISKY TO DO THIS BECAUSE YOU MAY NOT WRONG NAME PRINTED OR IT MAY BE FORBIDDEN BY THE AUTHORITES TO DO SO BE FOR YOU DO IT CONSULT LWAYER ON PRPRETY RIGHTS

I think barcode printing needs some rather unique software. I have seen it around. (may be more common now)

You might want a label printer like this:
    brother-usa.com/LabelPrinter/Brother-Products.aspx?s_kcid=label%20printer|1165047104

I think these are the people you want to whom you want to ask your questions.

The labelers might be nice or you can print on sheets to peel and stick.

These people have labeling products that work with standard printers. avery.com/ I have used their sheets to print mailing labels with my ink jet printer. But the paper (sheets of labels) is not cheap.

I think the biggest problem is your data base. You will want to be able to take your inventory data base and somehow use it to print your labels, with the changes separately. Otherwise you will need to maintain a separate data base for labeling and maintain it.

Those are couple of ideas to look around for what will work for you. I am not recommending either since there are others. But it will give you the idea.

    Good Luck.

    There are
    1. Labeling softwares with
    - a graphic designer
    - an integrated barcode support
    - ready-to-use compliance labels (like VDA-4902, VDA BeloM, AMES-T, GTL, AIAG, Galia, Odette or GS1 labels),
    - a built-in database with import and export options
    - embedded computations, conditional printing
    - and printer independency feature (so you won’t need a special barcode printer to print your labels)

    2. Labeling components
    - allows you to embed labeling features into your own application. If you know how to program, you may find this solution more flexible.

You can try the software demos available in the internet first, and if you can’t find a good and inexpensive software, you can consult a software company and they can provide you a customized solution with a fair price.
