I work for a hospital and realized that everything is barcoded for scanning. Does that freak you out?

I mean everything, every piece of paper in amedical record, the chart itself. Associates wear a bar coded badge that clocks us in, let’s us in doors, pays for our meals, giftshop, etc. So, logically, the next big thing is to chip people with a barcode that accesses all of their medical records. because evrything is or will be going completely electronic. It seems to be paving the way towards soemthing dangerous. Or am I just old fashioned and like paper better?

You’re just old fashioned, do not fear man, fear God. God Bless.

I don’t trust it either. So much potential for abuse.

Something dangerous? What’s so dangerous about quick and easy access to necessary information? It’s no more exploitable than paper information that isn’t taken care of properly. At least you can encrypt electronic info, a process far too unweildy to use on ‘hard copies’ of stuff.

Every hour of paperwork (as well as reducing consumption of the paper itself) you can eliminate can be used to save another life.

I believe they are already putting chlps in people. This is the end of the times.

You appear to be rather obsessed. There is good medication available for your condition.

you must have quite a life to worry about such stuff.

It might just lead to a more efficient way of working.

My first encounter with this was at MD Anderson hospital in Houston. I really thought it was great and it made things go a lot faster.

  • 9. jimi4950  |  November 13th, 2010 at 12:46 pm

NO, It’s just faster and makes ordering things a lot easier, all the information can be up loaded to the company, it’s good for inventory also, you don’t have to count things by hand any more.

i think paper is better too! you should check out the book called ‘barcode rebellion’ or something like that. it takes place in the future where everyone has a tattooed barcode on their wrists and its wayy creepy! hope that helps! :)

Well in my hospital we do that mostly for accountability reasons…. keeps people honest. Its unfortunate, but necessary. Before I’m sure it was really easy to fudge a timeclock, or steal medicines. So I for one am happy to see that.

And when I microchipped my dogs, I was thinking that microchipping people would likely be somewhere in the future… but ya know, I don’t think thats so bad. How nice would it be to have a tiny GPS microchip in your kid, and if he gets abducted you can locate him much faster. Small price to pay to get your kid back quick. Then when the kid grows up, he can have it removed if he wants. I’d support that fully.

It’s my understanding that the “mark of the beast” will be a mark placed on the forehead or the back of the hand….and without it eventually no one will be able to purchase food or work, etc….so if someone offered me a permanent body mark I’d politely decline.

I had this discussion with my kids the other day..this also freaks me out. if you’ve read the “Left Behind” series you know what I’m talkiing about!! I’ll never let anyone implant something in my body!!

There already working on that, a chip that will be inserted into your forhead,
[like the ones they have for dogs] will have every thing any one needs on it,

  • 15. brother_lu  |  November 13th, 2010 at 3:38 pm

i hope so! alot of times my card doesn’t work, so a chip would be nice. also it’s one less thing to carry. that would be awesome if we could chip everything.. then we could do inventory without hours and hours of scanning and beeping. you could just pull up a program and see where every one in the building was and what they were carrying, etc.. it would be very efficient

Nah…it helps make life easier. There’s so much “stuff” out there that needs to get from one place to another that putting a code on it is the best way.
I wouldn’t like to be barcoded myself, but you can be identified by your photo or your teeth, so why would a chip be that much scarier…..except if you live in the US of course. Human rights don’t seem to mean to much to the US govt. Just check out New Orleans and Guantanamo…Now that’s scary!!

  • 17. Mel Mel  |  November 13th, 2010 at 4:43 pm

it terrifies me. it means that the end times are coming. and also did u know that they are forcing our millitary to have the chip in. they are also starting to put chips in babies. it is getting bad. it is predicted that the end times will happen in a few years. probably by 2010. but of course no one can predict the future.

Your question can’t really be answered by people who don’t know you because who knows whether or not you’re old fashioned , although I do think it’s a good idea to have the bar codes for what the hospital already does. As for putting chips into people its already being done to people’s pets so I think it may be a possibility one day, which is scary but I think too many people would object to being bar-coded so that would probably be a long way off .

  • 19. william a  |  November 13th, 2010 at 5:29 pm

i think putting chips in people is a good idea

    think about this
u get shot in the main artery and u are losing blood fast
u are UN conscious how do they know who u are Ur blood type and all that stuff

    answer chip in Ur head

  • 20. According To Me  |  November 13th, 2010 at 5:54 pm

You are way too old fashion!!
Paper is waste! Those bar codes are great for efficiency.

your intuition is merely alerting you of something
sometimes when there is smoke it does mean there is fire

I dont know about you but I for one am not comfortable with the thought of the US government having the athourity to insert anything into my child without my consent. If its such a good thing why not get the parents okay on the matter? -because they may refuse- and why is that such a bad thing? less control. think about it they may tell you its in order to locate medical records and such, but what do you really know and who can you really trust? Personally a faceless group of overseers would not be my first choice. There are work camps already built and functional all over the place. Dont take my word research it. And as for you Steve C, you are just the type that will be so easily controlled. keep thinking people america needs you to.

  • 23. 'Angela'  |  January 31st, 2011 at 11:12 am

I didn’t explain as well as i originally intended to about the work camps. They are in case of revolt.
