  edit: I just realized how sweet it could be. You could find an item that you’re crazy about. And be SUPER specific about the thickness of the lines to the artist. And you could totally scan yourself at the store and you would be priced as your fav item =D

  No it wouldn’t. Barcodes are a series of ones and zeros, like a signal from your remote to your television. Unless that store had the EXACT dowo to a minute line, barcode to yours. Nothing would happen.

  That’s a funny question, barcodes are really AWESOME! Especially as a tattoo =D

  If u get one at random then no. But if u go to the store and look at an actual barcode it might. But the fact is tattoo artists arn’t perfect and your skin isn’t flat, so it wouldn’t scan. Barcodes are percise and the scanner is extremely sensative to the bar sizes, so you would have to have one awesome tattoo artists with a steady hand.

  Only if you copy a bar code that the stor already uses. When the cashier scans an item the software reads the barcode and looks it up against all the barcodes in the stores database and returns the data (usually price & item name) when it finds a match. Your tatooed barcode is unlikely to match any that the store is using.

  i heard a story once that a guy got that and he worked at lowes and he scanned himself, and he ended up being like a hammer that was $5.95. but idk if it was true.

  No. Its impossible to tattoo a working barcode because barcodes are made by computers and all the lines are a certain thickness and space apart that a human wouldn’t be able to produce.

  Haha. I read that on fml!! I font knownof it’s true though. But if you do get a tattoo with a barcode, make sure the barcode is something you want it to be. Like don’t have the barcode be a box of condoms (unless to want it to be)

  I knew a guy, years ago, who had a tattoo of the barcode from a Trojan box. Apparently, it scanned. =0)

  It can be done. My husband and one of his Army buddies got the barcode from their IDs tattooed. My husbands scans but his friends doesn’t.

  Whatever. You do realize the store has to have the code programmed into their computer system in order for it to register. I’d say it’s quite the long shot that someone’s personal code would be in a store’s database.

  Probably not. You have to get it very precise, and even then it might not work. The numbers on the bar code aren’t just random. They have to be entered into the store system for that particular item, so if you just get a random assortment of numbers and lines, it won’t mean anything.
