Such as a handheld or base type scanner that could be heard on the internet for free.
Best answer:
Since 9/11/01 almost ALL police frequencies on the net have been taken away. Many police bands are 800 megahertz now, and most scanners don’t pick those up.

Try Radio Shack, I have a pro 94 hand held that will works pretty well and you can carry it with you. ($200.00 range with all the goodies). Sometimes you can find them in pawnshops for less. They will also have a frequency guide there. I think it’s called Fleetcall. If you can’t get the frequencies you want try radioreference.com or just search scanner frequencies. Make sure you get a scanner that has trunk tracking capability. Many areas are going or have gone to this type of system.
