Is it illegal to steal makeup testers?

I’ve always admired the makeup at Sephora and Ulta, but lately I haven’t been able to afford any of it. Sephora and Ulta often put of testers for lip gloss, eye shadow, etc. Sometimes I will take the makeup testers of an eyeshadow and place it in my purse, and since there is so barcode I don’t get caught. Can I get busted for this? It’s not really a product, and I just kind of considered them as “free samples”. I also sanitize the product when I get home, but they have already been used…so it’s not like I’m taking home a brand new product using my 5 finger discount. Thoughts?

    Yes! Thats both stealing and illegal! You can’t disinfect things like mascara and eyeshadow! You’re also running the risk of getting a really bad infection!

    If it’s in a store, it is not yours to take unless they have a sign that says “free sample.” Testers are to be shared by everyone, till they run out or are pulled from the shelf, not taken home by one person who comes in with a thrill for thievery and penny pinching.

    Sure it’s illegal. If it were a free sample product it would say so. How can they put out testers for lip gloss? You mean everyone tries them on their lips?? They will have to go out and get more testers, and the prices will end up even higher. It’s very selfish of you, if you really want to know my thoughts.

    that doesn’t make any sense
    if i go in your room and see a used cell phone, straightner etc. does that mean i can put it in my purse?
    No i think not..
    if it doesnt belong to you and your taking it without permission then its basically stealing.

    Honey, its stealing.
    How about this. Why don’t you go on youtube, look up some make up tutorials. Get some bargain tips from people on there. There are tons of them.
    Usually what you can do is get VERY inexpensive make up that is JUST AS GOOD as ulta and sephora for very cheap.
    Go to CherryCulture.com.
    They have stuff for NYX as low as 99 cents.
    Even ELF has good stuff you can get for as low as a dollar and it will work.
    Don’t steal anymore and especially used stuff because you can get a very bad infection from someone else.

    yup. that is stealing. the testers are meant for in store testing only. instead of stealing the whole thing, ask the counter if they have any samples that you can use out of the store. fragrance samples are easiest to get, since you can just spray the fragrance on a piece of paper that is usually provided.

    You consider them samples because it makes you think it’s okay to steal. Anytime you take something that doesn’t belong to you, it’s stealing. If you continue to think like this, you will end up in prison one day.
