Is it Possible to Combine Multiple Tracking Numbers into one single barcode?
I am looking for a Program / Website that Will allow me to add Mutiple tracking Numbers (Similar to those found on FedEx and UPS Parcels) and combine them into 1 single barcode. So that when I scan that 1 Barcode, it will automatically list all of the tracking numbers that were combined to that 1 barcode. Hopefully that made sense. I have seen it done before, although I have no idea how to do it myself. This is mainly to help me with Inventory.
Best answer:
If you call UPS or FedEx, they will be able to help you with this.

NO….esch barcode is an individual tracking number so that the shipping company can track each individual package…if you send 10 pkgs. and only 7 arrive at the destination and they all have 1 tracking number, therer will be no way to track the other 3…bad for everyone…

In Excel, several alpha-numeric characters can be concatenated into one text string and a long barcode created. However, after so many characters, most barcode readers won’t read the long barcode.
Your best bet is to research 2-D (two dimensional) barcodes and then you can probably accomplish what you’re looking for. Some 2-D barcodes can store a couple-hundred characters allowing dozens of tracking numbers to be encoded into one symbol. The barcode reader must be 2-D compatible, of course.

You will need to use one of the 2-dimensional barcodes that can hold about about 1,500 characters, 4-times over, in the size of a large postage stamp. They are durable because they can be ripped in half and still be read by a 2-D scanner.
In between the barcode, you will need to insert the appropriate keystrokes dictated by the receiving software’s expectations. For example, your software might be expecting an “enter” key and four “tabs” after the barcode / tracking number, before it is ready to accept the next barcode / tracking number.
Call or e-mail me any questions and check out the two dimensional readers on my site; justinsystems.com
