Is there a software package for creating barcodes and scanning them into an xl spreadsheet?
My group is doing a study where we have a lot of data to collect that will be sorted by multiple test subjects. We are collecting the data in spreadsheets to run through a system that will crunch the numbers for us.
currently we are numbering the items in the test and manually entering the data. I thought it would be much easier and faster if we labeled them with barcodes and were able to simply scan the data into our spreadsheet… Any ideas?

Yes there is its called timescan. We use it in my company and you make bar codes and get a scan tool and they are used for are cost codes in the electric field. I am sure that it can be modified for your needs.

I’m not sure about the software with which you’ll be able to scan the barcodes to a database but, in matter of creating a barcode, you can use CorelDraw which gives you the ability to create a barcode in various formats.
