Keeping the zero in front of a UPC number in excel?
Keeping the zero in front of a UPC number in excel?
I’m trying to format a file with UPC numbers in excel, some of which have zeros as the first number. I know how to get the zero to stay in front of the number in teh cell, but is there any way to have the zero show up in the formula bar? For example. the cell will say 039841401028, but the formula bar says 39841401028

Highlight the cell(s) right click the highlighted area >format >Number…choose either custom, general, scientific, text or special (Pretty much anything but number)

If you want it to show in the Formula Bar with leading zeroes, then do not make the cells formatted as Numbers. Make them just plain Text formats. then you can put what ever you want as values and they will display that way in the Formula Bar.
