library scanners beeping?
last year i lost a potassium book at the library and we paid for it, but i finally found it,
and i decided to do potassium for my chemistry project,
but every time i go through the school library, the thing beeps, and they told me not to do it again, blah blah blah,
anyway, so all i have to do is to remove the little barcode tags, and i should be fine?
thanks!
true, so do i just live with it? and avoid my school library to not be yelled at ? lol anyway to permanently undo whatever they did to it?

nope, the barcode isn’t the thing that sets it off
ever see at the public libraries the librarians rub the book spine against a metal machine? thats how the book not set off the detector

Probably not.
If the barcode tag is thicker than a simple paper label, it may be the device the sensor is picking up.
Older, pre-RFID technology involved slipping the theft tag down the spine of the book. Get a flashlight and check. Bar code stickers are used simply for checking out. If the checkout process involves waving the spine of the book over a deactivation device, then that’s where you have to look.

It’s not the barcode, it’s most likely a small strip of metal, usually hidden in the spine of the book, and sometimes between the pages.
To stop the security sensor from beeping, you need to either try to find the strip and remove it (look closely between pages) or run a strong magnet over the spine of the book, which will deactivate the strip.
(the library uses a magnet to deactivate books you’ve checked out, and a AC powered re-activator once they are returned.
